“Where does voguing come from, and what, exactly, is throwing shade? This landmark documentary provides a vibrant snapshot of the 1980s through the eyes of New York City’s African American and Latinx Harlem drag-ball scene. Made over seven years, Paris Is Burning offers an intimate portrait of rival fashion “houses,” from fierce contests for trophies to house mothers offering sustenance in a world rampant with homophobia, transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty. Featuring legendary voguers, drag queens, and trans women—including Willi Ninja, Pepper LaBeija, Dorian Corey, and Venus Xtravaganza—Paris Is Burning brings it, celebrating the joy of movement, the force of eloquence, and the draw of community." - https://www.criterionchannel.com/paris-is-burning

2016 LA Pride
Important Information:
Please remember to bring water, sunscreen, and snacks if you need them! It takes about an hour and a half to walk the route, and we are lining up very early. It may be hot and we'll be in the sun. Please make sure you have everything you need to be comfortable during the parade.
A couple people have asked about tickets to get into the Festival. Unfortunately, we do not get free tickets! You will be able to go to any restaurants/shops etc in the Parade area after we're done, but you still need a ticket to enter the Festival. If you buy them online in advance, they are cheaper than at the door.
